DURING YOUR STAY

Day 1 – Enjoy a leisurely journey to Carlisle, where we will have free time before arriving at our hotel later this afternoon. Precariously perched on the frontier between England and Scotland the city has been on the front line of England’s defenses for more than 1,000 years. Perhaps visit the medieval castle, built in 1092 by William Rufus, it has played an important role in the history of Carlisle for centuries.

Day 2 – After breakfast we take you to Edinburgh, here we have included admission into the mighty Edinburgh Castle! One of the most exciting historic sites in Western Europe. The castle is home to the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th Century gun Mons Meg, the One O’Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

Day 3 – Enjoy your day at leisure in Peebles. Nestled within an area of outstanding natural beauty, Peebles is a picturesque market town cherished by locals and visitors alike.

Day 4 – This morning we visit Thirlestane Castle for a guided tour. Nestled in an idyllic part of the Scottish Borders, Thirlestane Castle is a magnificent 16th Century Castle. Discover the castles fascinating history with our experienced and entertaining guide as we explore the splendour of the State Drawing Room, the room where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed. We spend our afternoon in the market town of Kelso, full of architectural and historical interest. The graceful five-arched bridge over the Tweed, built by John Rennie in 1803, was the model for London’s Waterloo Bridge.

Day 5 – Today we travel to Stirling, here we have included admission into the stunning Stirling Castle – one of Scotland’s most historically important sites and home to Mary Queen of Scots. The castle’s history can be traced back to 1107 and it may have been the site of King Arthur’s round table! Afterwards, you can enjoy a short walk around The Queen Anne Gardens, these peaceful pretty gardens lie on the south side of the castle overlooked by the Queen’s Lodgings and the Prince’s Tower.

Day 6 – We retrace our footsteps home.
