DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We travel to Chester, to enjoy free time in this magnificent Roman city. Chester is home to the most complete city walls in England, the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain and a stunning 1000-year-old cathedral. Later, we continue to our hotel where a warm Welsh croeso (welcome) awaits on St David’s Day, along with a cup of tea and traditional bara brith (a rich fruit loaf made with tea) on arrival.
Day 2 – This morning we visit the popular seaside resort of Llandudno, an elegant Victorian gem which is home to Llandudno Beach, the Great Orme and the Llandudno Pier. Why not, visit the Llandudno Museum, an acclaimed heritage centre which tells the story of the town’s evolution from industrial town to the popular coastal resort it is today. Later, we travel to Conwy, a World Heritage Site with an imposing 13th Century walled castle and quaint harbour.
Day 3 – Enjoy free time in mighty Caernarfon, home to Wales’s most famous castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 13th century by Edward I, it was also the site of the investiture of Prince Charles as current Prince of Wales.
Day 4 – Sit back and enjoy a more leisurely way to travel today as we include a journey on the Llanberis Lake Railway. Our little steam train will take you through spectacular scenery right in the heart of Snowdonia. We past the 13th Century Dolbadarn Castle, across rivers and streams and travel along part of the old slate railway route following the shores of beautiful Lake Padarn. Enjoy magnificent views of Snowdon and the surrounding high peaks from the comfort of your carriage.
Day 5 – We bid our Welsh hosts a fond ‘hwyl fawr’ or farewell and retrace our footsteps home.
