Excursions to York, York National Railway Museum, Filey, Bridlington & Whitby Journeys on the Kirkless Light Railway & North Yorkshire Moors Railway
DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We arrive in York, home to the outstanding York Cathedral and rich in history, romance and idyllic cobbled lanes. After some free time, we take you to the National Railway Museum. Home to an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance from the past and present. This afternoon we will continue to our 3‐star hotel in Scarborough.
Day 2 – We begin the day in Filey, this traditional seaside resort offers a gentle atmosphere with luscious parks and gardens to explore. Afterwards, we take you to Bridlington. With its sandy beaches, award‐winning promenades and historic harbour, it is a hidden seaside gem awash with kitsch traditional entertainment for you to enjoy.
Day 3 – This morning we have arranged a journey on the iconic North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Experience the age of steam and some amazing scenery on one of the world’s great heritage railways. Travelling along 24 miles of the Yorkshire Countryside you’ll experience beautiful vistas on a journey you’ll never forget. Afterwards, we visit Whitby for some free time.
Day 4 – Our final excursion in on board the Kirklees Light Railway, a 15” narrow‐gauge railway. The journey passes through the ancient woodland of Blacker Wood and also includes passage through the Shelley Woodhouse Tunnel, which at 467m long is the longest tunnel on any 15” narrow‐gauge line in Britain!
