Day 1 – Enjoying leisurely breaks, we visit Bury St Edmunds en‐route to our hotel. Bury St Edmunds’ most famous landmarks are its impressive abbey ruins and their adjoining gardens. Once a great monastery, the abbey was built around a shrine to Saint Edmund.

Day 2 – After breakfast we visit RHS Garden Hyde Hall, sitting prominently on a hilltop with sweeping

views across the rolling Essex countryside. The gardens boast an eclectic range of inspirational horticultural styles from traditional rose gardens and herbaceous borders to large sweeping borders of grasses and meadowland.

Day 3 – After a relaxing morning in the comfort of our hotel, we visit Beth Chatto Gardens. These world‐renowned gardens were created by award‐winning planstwoman Beth Chatto, OBE – winner of 10 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, in 10 consecutive years – Home to 2000 variets of plants, there are a series of 4 gardens to explore, Screen, Gravel, Woodland and Water.

Day 4 – This morning we enjoy some free time in Chelmsford, England’s newest city set in the beautiful Essex countryside. Throughout its history, Chelmsford has played host to a number of famous figures including Charles Dickens and the Duke of Wellington, it was also home to worldwide pioneer Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the wireless. In 1899, Marconi’s Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company opened the world’s first radio factory in Hall Street and the first entertainment radio broadcast was made from Chelmsford in 1920. Afterwards, we take you to St Albans where we enjoy the rest of the afternoon. This beautiful English Cathedral City is home to Roman remains and some delightful medieval architecture.

Day 5 – Our first visit today is to Audley End House & Gardens, renowned as one of the finest Jacobean houses in England. Enjoy stunning views across the unspoilt countryside and wander the tranquil gardens created by ‘Capability’ Brown. This afternoon, we return to the East Midlands.
