Tucked away in a deep wooded valley, Berry Pomeroy Castle was never completed and was abandoned in 1700, it is since thought to be the ‘most haunted castle in Devon! After some free time, we travel to Brixham where we enjoy the afternoon. Still one of the busiest fishing ports in the UK, Brixham is home to some of freshest and most delicious seafood in Britain!
Day 3 – Explore your surroundings in your own time today.
Day 4 – We spend the morning in Paignton, part of the UNESCO English Riviera Global Geopark that celebrates its extraordinary history and natural beauty. Paignton is home to beautiful sandy beaches, a promenade, traditional pier and colourful beach huts that you can enjoy all year round. Later today, we have arranged a stunning journey on the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat company from Paignton to Kingswear. Travelling along the spectacular South Devon Coast, sit back, relax and enjoy the awe-inspiring sea views and country setting as we slowly navigate our way through the picturesques stations at Goodrington, Churston, Long Wood, Greenway Halt (home to the estate of the late Dame Agatha Christie), and onto Kingswear. Here, a foot passenger ferry will take you across the River Dart to the historic town of Dartmouth; home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, Bayards Cove, Butterwalk and Dartmouth Castle (England's first Castle to have guns as its main armament).
Day 5 – Our final visit is to Jekka’s Herb Farm in Bristol. As the UK’s leading organic herb growers this garden centre has won 61 RHS gold medals, including 14 Chelsea golds and was voted as one of the top 10 Garden Centre’s in the UK by the Daily Telegraph. After some free time, we return home.
