Day 3 – We begin in the picturesque village of Lari, situated in the Pisan hills, to visit Europe’s smallest and most authentic pasta factory, owned and run by the Martelli family since 1926. Here, we will learn all about this product as it is transformed from grain to the shop shelves. Afterwards, we travel to the quaint village of Terricciola. Most famous for its culture, wine production and ancient structures here we will visit a local vineyard where we will enjoy a wine tasting accompanied with a local snack! Our last stop is in San Miniato, sitting high and pretty this enchanting town offers quiet streets and an interesting historic city centre. Perfectly sized, this is a great opportunity to stretch your legs and purchase a few quaint gifts.

Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990 and famous for its fascinating Medieval architecture, San Gimignano offers visitors a chance to step back. Afterwards, we will travel to the historic walled town of Certaldo Alto on the funicular railway. Here, we have included admission into an authentic Medieval banquet! Long trestle tables will await you, illuminated by torches and served by page boys and girls in period costume as you enjoy a banquet. Followed by demonstrations of knights in armour and fire-starters, before a firework display rounds off a wonderful evening!

From the Roman amphitheatre – Piazza dell’Anfiteatro – to the archeological remains under the 12th Century church of Saint Giovanni and Reparata, this incredible city is thriving with ancient history just waiting to be discovered. Later, this evening we have included tickets to the fabulous Puccini e la sua Lucca Festival concert.
