Travel north for an overnight hotel in central Scotland area.

A leisurely start for the scenic drive via Royal Deeside via a short stop in Braemar, continuing with a glimpse of Balmoral Castle, the Queens Highland retreat, en route to Aberdeen to board our overnight ferry with evening dinner and comfortable cabin accommodation included on board.

Breakfast on board before an early arrival in the remote isles of the Shetlands, where we are met by a local guide for a tour of the Northern Isles - Yell and Unst. We visit the Old Haa Museum which houses artifacts from the lives of the islanders, then cross to Unst, with its many beautiful beaches. After a light lunch we continue via Muckle Flugga, the most northern tip of the UK before visiting The Skidbladner, a full size replica of a Viking ship. We return to Lerwick and The Shetland hotel for a 2 night stay.

Today we explore the south and west mainland, taking in magnificent cliff scenery, golden beaches and seabird colonies - highlights include Sumburgh Head RSPB reserve; 5000 years of history at Viking Jarlshof archaeological site; entry to Croft House museum; photo opportunities of native Shetland ponies in the Tingwall Valley and the former ancient capital of Scalloway, with its 15th century castle, fishing harbour and folklore museum.

This morning we head north west via Voe & Brae to the "Drongs", an impressive series of sea stacks. This afternoon we have a guided tour of Shetland Jewellery Nordic Workshop. We return via Wormadale Viewpoint to Lerwick for a little free time before boarding the ship for the return overnight sailing with evening dinner and en suite cabin accommodation on board.

Breakfast on board before early arrival back in Aberdeen. From here we take the coast road via Arbroath, famous for it's "Smokies" (a type of smoked haddock), continuing over the Tay Bridge, with a stop in St Andrews where Prince William first met Kate Middleton at the town's university, the oldest in Scotland. We cross the newest of the 3 Forth Bridges before arriving at our overnight hotel.

We continue our journey over the border back into England and our original departure points.
