Day 1
We travel to Carlisle to board the world-famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. Running through some of the most attractive scenery in the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbrian Fells, the Settle - Carlisle Railway is renowned for its Victorian architecture, huge stone viaducts and long tunnels. Afterwards we have some free time in Settle before we continue to our overnight hotel.
Day 2
At the gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, enjoy free time in the charming market town of Skipton. With its famous 900-year-old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and natural beauty. After some free time, we return home.
Set in 17 acres of Lancashire parkland the 4-star Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa is a 700-year old country manor. Mercure boasts an indoor swimming pool and a restaurant. Rooms are en suite with baths and showers, they also come with satellite TVs and radios. There are tea/coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi is available.
The Spa Naturel & Leisure centre offers a swimming pool, sauna and spa. There is also a fully equipped gymnasium, whirlpool and massage treatments. The Cameo Restaurant and Cameo Bar offer international cuisine and light dishes. There are also some Lancashire specialities on the menu and a fine wine list to choose from.
