Day 1
We travel to The Hotel Wagner, in Kamp-Bornhofen.
Day 2
After breakfast we visit Koblenz, which lies in a beautiful location at the junction of the Moselle and Rhine rivers. The Old Town area boasts numerous well-preserved historic attractions, from the spectacular fortress of Ehrenbreitstein to the Neoclassical Koblenz Schloss, built in 1786. After free time, we travel to the picturesque old town of Braubach, on the east bank of the river. With its wonderfully crooked old streets and alleyways lined with medieval half-timbered buildings, it's a delightful place to explore. Other highlights include the 13th-century Barbarakirche church, the 11th-century Martinskapelle Chapel, as well as surviving sections of the Old Town walls.
Day 3
This morning you can choose to join us for an optional return cruise to Rudesheim, a picturesque winemaking town most famous for its production of Asbach Brandy that has been in production since 1892. Tonight, we travel to Obserwesel to witness the electrifying Rhine in Flames. Due to the nature of this excursion we recommend bringing blankets, so you can relax whilst watching the firework displays. We will make a late return to the hotel tonight.
Day 4
Today is at leisure in the charming resort of Kamp Bornhofen. This friendly tourist community is well known throughout Germany for its famous pilgrimage church and monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The town also offers traditional Thensh wine taverns and restaurants in a romantic setting.
Day 5
This morning we visit Worms, one of Germany's oldest cities. You may wish to visit the magnificent 12th century St Peter's Cathedral or the oldest Jewish Cemetery in Europe. We also visit Mannheim, one of Europe's most important (and largest) inland harbours. Pedestrian-friendly and fun to explore, the cultural centre of the city revolves around the historic Marktplatz with its Old Town Hall.
Day 6
After breakfast we visit the traditional German town of Cochem located in one of the most romantic parts of the Moselle Valley, few can match the sheer charm and beauty of Cochem. We also visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Boppard, returning to the hotel for so before return to our hotel for some free time this afternoon.
Day 7
We retrace our footsteps back home.
Our hotel in Kamp-Bornhofen is a 3-minute walk from the River Rhine and offers a spa with sauna, hot tub and solarium, as well as a traditional restaurant with garden terrace and complimentary Wi-Fi. We have been working with the Wagner family now for many years, and each stay guarantees a wonderful experience, with generous hospitality and a home away from home experience.
