ISLE OF MAN RAILWAY
& CREGNEASH FOLK MUSEUM (FULL DAY): Enjoy a journey on the Isle of Man Railway (from Douglas to Port Erin), the longest gauge steam line in Britain that still uses its original locomotives and carriages. We also visit the Railway Museum, where you can learn all about the history of the island's railway network. Later, we visit the National Folk Museum in Cregneash - a living, working illustration of 19th and 20th Century Manx crofting life, where visitors can see traditional farming methods and skills in action.
DOUGLAS
(FULL DAY): Situated on the east coast of the Isle of Man, Douglas has been the island's capital since 1863. The beautiful sea front is lined with picturesque restaurants and locally owned stores. You may like to take a ride aboard one of the famous horse-drawn trains that ply the promenade or visit the Manx Museum, which is bursting with artefacts and treasures unique to the islands 10,000 year history.
CURRAGHS WILDLIFE
PARK, RAMSEY & LAXEY (FULL DAY): Set in 40 acres of beautiful, natural scenery Curraghs Wildlife Park is home to 350 different types of animals including large cats, birds of prey and primates. Later, we travel the short distance to Ramsey, set against the backdrop of the North Barrule hills and Laxey, a picturesque village best known for its large waterwheel - The Great Laxey Wheel 'Lady Isabella' which used to pump water out of the mines.
Built in 1910, The Hydro is a well-established hotel on the Isle of Man, situated on the historic Queens Promenade overlooking Douglas Bay. There's a rustic restaurant with exposed timber beams, in addition to a cosy bar.
