KESWICK, AMBLESIDE
& KENDAL (FULL DAY): After collecting our packed lunch, we will enjoy visits to Keswick, Ambleside and Kendal. The pretty market town of Keswick offers a wide range of attractions for visitors, from farm shops and restaurants to museums (like the pencil museum), and boating trips around Lake Derwentwater. Ambleside, at the head of Lake Windermere, England's largest natural lake, is home to The Bridge House, which is the most photographed building in the whole of the Lake District, and Kendal, famous for its mint cake, boasts shopping arcades, two castles and fine restaurants.
CARTMEL
(HALF DAY): The beautiful village of Cartmel is famous for its 12th Century Priory and home to a 14th-century gatehouse, old shops, and pubs. The village is also excellent for food, with the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, and two restaurants that are both featured in the "Good Food Guide".
LANCASTER
(HALF DAY): The county town of Lancashire, Lancaster is one of England's Heritage Cities, as vibrant as it is quirky with a captivating past and a cultured present. You can visit the medieval castle, 19th Century prison cells or shop until you drip in chic boutiques and independent art galleries.
Cumbria Grand Hotel ***, Grange-over-Sands
The charming Cumbria Grand is set in 25-acres of gardens and woodlands and is within easy walking distance to the beach. Many rooms have panoramic sea views over Morecambe Bay and beyond to the Yorkshire Dales. With views across the Bay, the Hazelwood Restaurant serves traditional cuisine using the finest local ingredients.
