Visit to the glass blowing factory and Christmas Village in Wolfach

Day 1 – After an early start we sail across the Channel and travel to our overnight hotel.

Day 2 – On our journey to our hotel we visit Strasbourg, home to the very first Christmas market in Europe in 1570.  Since this time Strasbourg has continued the tradition of an authentic and warm Christmas Market, made up of around 300 stalls it is now one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe. After some free time here we continue to the hotel arriving early evening where we arrive to a welcome drink.

Day 3 – Today we visit Wolfach in the Black Forest, where we have arranged a visit to a glass blowing factory; The “Dorotheenhütte” is the only glassworks in the Black Forest where you can see how lead crystal is mouth-blown and hand-cut. Then we enjoy free time in the Christmas Village, thoughtfully decorated little houses, stylish arrangements and scenes all presented under a twinkling starry sky. Afterwards we return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 4 – After a leisurely morning we visit the historical old city of Freiburg to explore the magical atmosphere that prevails at the Christmas market, where you can delight in a wide variety of traditional craft products, including glass blowing and colourful wooden toys. An aroma of mulled wine and gingerbread biscuits wafts through the idyllic narrow streets between the rustic wooden stalls inviting you in.

Day 5 – We leave our hotel with a warming glow in our hearts and retrace our steps back to our overnight hotel, enjoying a leisurely break in the charming town of Obernai, situated in Alsace.

Day 6 –
Following an early start we re-join our ferry sailing and continue home.
