CRUISE & MARITIME: SCOTTISH HIGHLIGHTS & FAROES

8 DAYS

Dramatic scenery, fascinating history, bountiful wildlife and the legacies of ancient cultures are all waiting to be discovered on this wonderful cruise taking you north to the remote Faroese archipelago and far-flung Scottish island outposts. A call in Invergordon offers the chance to discover the dramatic Highlands visiting iconic castles, legendary Loch Ness or perhaps, a malt whisky distillery.

DURING YOUR STAY

 

Day 1­ – We depart and travel to London Tilbury, enjoy comfort breaks en-route, our Cruise departs at approx. 4pm.

Day 2 – At Sea – Whilst at sea make the most of Columbus’ seven different lounges or bars, Casino or specially selected coffee shops. The ship also offers expansive deck areas and promenades with traditional wooden decking, ideal for viewing.

Day 3 – Kirkwall, Orkney Islands (United Kingdom) - The Royal Burgh of Kirkwall sits almost exactly in the centre of Mainland, dividing the island into East and West. The magnificent St. Magnus Cathedral, a legacy of the town’s rich Viking heritage dominates Kirkwall’s skyline. Modern day Orkney is a hive of creative activity and its craft workshops are perfect for a special souvenir.

Day 4 – Tórshavn (Faroe Islands) - Once the site of an annual Viking gathering, Tórshavn is today one of the smallest and most pleasant capital cities in the world. It sits on the southern tip of Streymoy, one of eighteen islands in the Faroese archipelago. Tinganes is the old part of the town where characteristic, red wooden buildings with turf-covered roofs cluster on a narrow peninsula, it juts into the natural harbour around which the modern town has been built. 

Day 5 – Lerwick, Shetland Islands (United Kingdom) - Lerwick was founded as an unofficial marketplace to service 17th century Dutch herring fleets. The core of the town is a maze of narrow, flagstone streets set behind 18th century sandstone buildings overlooking the busy harbour.

Day 6 – Invergordon, Scotland (United Kingdom) - Invergordon is a key port with an important naval history stretching back through two World Wars. The small, yet modern town is a charming coastal gateway to the beautiful Scottish Highlands and the incredible scenery forms a stunning backdrop to the romantic castles and historic battlefields

Day 7 – At Sea

Day 8 – Sail back to London Tilbury, arriving back at 7am where the coach will be waiting to take you back home.
