Discover the beauty of the Highlands on this journey as we include a ride on the world’s most scenic railway: The Kyle Line, and enjoy an unmissable boat cruise along Moray Firth, best known for its resident Bottlenose Dolphins. Staying in the beautiful village of Beauly, close to Inverness we also visit Dunrobin Castle on this memorable break.

Day 1 – Following an early departure we travel straight to our hotel in Inverness-shire for 4 nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2 – After breakfast we embark on one of the world’s most scenic railways: The Kyle Line, which travels from Inverness on the east coast through to Kyle of Lochalsh on the west. We will be travelling from Dingwall, where the single track ‘Kyle of Lochalish Railway Line’ originated in 1870. Our journey will take us west through mountains and lakes as we pass some of Scotland’s most dramatic and spectacular natural landscapes.

Day 3 – Enjoy a day at leisure today. “C’est un beau lieu” – what a beautiful place – was Mary Queen of Scots reaction to Beauly when she reportedly stayed in Beauly in the 16th Century. Or alternatively perhaps catch a local bus to Inverness “The Capital of the Highlands.”  

Day 4 – Today we have planned an unforgettable boat cruise on The Moray Firth; Renowned for its wildlife see if you can spot the resident Bottlenose Dolphins! This afternoon we visit Dunrobin Castle. Overlooking The Moray Firth, Dunrobin Castle resembles a French chateâu and dates back to the early 1300s making it one of Britain’s oldest continuously inhabited houses.

Day 5 – After breakfast we retrace our footsteps home.
