Day 1
We travel to York, home to the outstanding York Minster. Enjoy free time to explore before we continue to our hotel. During your stay we will have free use of the hotel’s leisure facilities, including an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub.
DDay 2
This morning we visit Durham for free time. In this “perfect little city” you can shop for gourmet treats, locally produced food or find a café and watch the world go by. Later, we return to our hotel. Perhaps take this opportunity to pamper yourself in the hotel’s leisure facilities!
B, DDay 3
After a leisurely morning we travel for an afternoon visit to Beamish, a world-famous open-air museum which tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Set in 300-acres of beautiful countryside, folk in period costume bring life to the Town, Pit Village, Home Farm and Pockerley Old Hall. Experience first-hand how the Industrial Revolution transformed agricultural life in the region.
B, DDay 4
Full day excursion exploring the Durham Dales takes us to the historic ‘must see’ market town of Barnard Castle and Bishops Auckland, the Gateway to Weardale and where the magnificent Auckland Castle was the country residence of the Prince Bishops for more than 900 years
B, DDay 5
We return home.
