Skills Motor Coaches was originally founded in 1919 in Radford, Nottinghamshire by Arthur Skill, the grandfather of current Chairman, Nigel Skill and Simon Skill. Arthur began working by delivering fish but later started taking local miners to and from Bestwood Colliery. In 1921 he purchased a Crossley Charabanc – Skills’ first bus – and it was there that the business really began!

Thanks to their father’s persistence, Nigel and Simon Skill began to work for the family business from a very young age during the school holidays. In 1987, Nigel and Simon Skill bought the business from their father to become directors. Remaining a well-established company based in Nottinghamshire, Nigel and Simon Skill maintained their ‘fair, open and honest’ values – an ethos which their Grandfather had founded the business with. In the late 1970’s they introduced Continental holidays, and today they continue to work hard to invest in a first-class fleet of modern vehicles, offering luxury coach hire and coach holidays ranging from day trips to weekend breaks and exotic European destinations.

Nottingham has seen four generations and over 100 years of the Skills family, something which we still pride ourselves on today. Growing from strength to strength, the Skills Group maintains itself to be a well-established, family-run business in the heart of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, providing coach holidays, private hire and group travel.
